I’ve been asked (very nicely) to make a clarification.
One of the regulars in comments on Folo posts as “Ben Cole,” a handle he presumably picked when he started commenting and thus has been stuck with permanently. That’s how I became NMC.
There is also an individual named Ben Cole who lives here in Oxford, practices law, and is the director of North Mississippi Rural Legal Services. He has written me a letter which says:
Dear FOLO Readers:
Please be advised that the comments previously submitted in the name of Ben Cole ARE NOT authored by Ben Thomas Cole, II, Executive Director of North Mississippi Rural Legal Services, Oxford, MS.
Sincerely,
Ben Thomas Cole, II
Executive Director
North Mississippi Rural Legal Services
Oxford, MS
Maybe we should start referring to “our” BC as NotBenCole. ;>)
I confirm that I am NOT Ben T. Cole. I am Ben J. Cole. Maybe I should go back to the Old Country spelling: Kohl.
Ben T: I hope you can overcome any damage to YOUR reputation I may have caused. And I may start having my bills addressed to NMRLS.
Maybe Ben T Cole’s wife started hearing rumors about his Catherine jones?
I request a name change to “Zach Scruggs”.
I guess the Ben Cole who wrote the letter has different views from folo Ben Cole. Glitter girl has a good idea with BC.
Your request is granted Daemon. Henceforth please log in as “Zach Scruggs.” I can’t imagine why you want to do that, but you want it … you got it.
Next case.
Tacky, tacky…
Uh oh-I must be doin’ sumpin wrong.
My guess is we all knew Ben Cole, herein, was not the Ben Cole of Oxford. Out here in the Wild West we checked that out early on. I am going to stick with referring to Ben Cole as Ben Cole not Ben Kohl even though the latter spelling is more understandable to us Swiss People.
Mr. Ben Cole is an astute lawyer that knows “prudential law” who the heck cares where he lives, it is Mississippi somewhere.
The Folo Site has gathered some wonderful lawyers together.
Lotus and NMC, thank you both.
aw man, just when I was used to Ben Cole being Ben Cole I find out he’s not. He’s Ben Cole instead. Now I’ll have to get used to it all over again!
I’m going to petition Lotus and NMC for a rechristening. Ben T. Cole II is a fine, honorable attorney doing a commendable job for NMRLS, and I respect his name and his work. I am retired, so confusion over my name can’t cause me any trouble, which it can for the director of NMRLS and possibly for NMRLS itself. I won’t let that happen.
“I’ll be back ….”
Does this mean my eighty year old cousin Barack, in the Old Folks Home in Iuka, can expect his nurses to receive a letter of clarification from the POTUS?
BC@12 how about “Ole King Cole”?
Too “royalistic” for me. I was thinking of something more down to earth, less self-aggrandizing. What do you think of “Supreme Commander”?
Lets go with El Supremo. Has that dictatorial ring to it.
AND it shortens nicely to Supe.
ElS
how about an obvious anagram:
Be Clone
or his current handle backwards.
Well, actually, why not just . . . “Ben”?
I know some people who pick the names of their new babies quicker-tho not necessarily as aptly-as this. What’s it gonna be BC?
AD instead of BC for After Dickie
NL
BC- You may want to try googling “name generators” and see if something strikes your fancy like a Jedi name, or a Reggae name, I even found a FRENCH name generator out there on the web.
Often enough I think Ben conjures up Puck.
Ooooh! I like that ‘un bunches . . . unless it recalls that dude from MTV’s The Real Life NY(?) for some.
no, Ive got it! Yoda!!
