Whatever happened (or didn't), it's discouraging to see someone with Judge DeLaughter's record of public service -- as defense lawyer in capital cases, as a prosecutor, and as a circuit judge -- in a courtroom shackled. It does raise an interesting question, though. Why do they put the shackles on everyone? Do they really think Bobby DeLaughter is going to hotfoot it out of the Federal Courthouse? That’s sad news, lotus. I hear it was MIGHTY combative. The original bill included same day registration which got stripped out; it also exempted folks 65 years and older from the voter id which also got stripped out. I hear there was a motion to reconsider passed and it will be debated further today? You can live stream it on some link from MPB, I believe.
