S.D. Miss. US Attorney Dunn Lampton announced today he will retire effective Saturday; First Assistant Stan Harris will serve as Acting U.S. Attorney until the next USA is named (h/t Sun Herald). Here’s the announcement.

He may have some things to answer for, but I have to note that he did all right by Thomas Moore (brother of Charles Moore) in pursuing James Ford Seal. Does anyone know if Seal managed to get out because of the jurisdictional issue?
While I don’t agree with all his politics or all his prosecutorial decisions I must say that Dunn Lampton’s a good fellow. I am very sorry he suffered the injury he suffered and wish him the best in retirement.
Sorry guys can not agree here. Ijudge a man by his actions not by whether he seems to be a nice guy, or fun to drink a beer with. He is the Alberto Gonzales of Mississippi. A political hit man of limited ability and intellect who did what he was told without question. Fine for a lobbyist or a hack politician, but dangerous as an officer of the law.
