Ed Peters petition to surrender his law license

January 6th, 2009 @ 1:34 pm - by NMC · 5 Comments

The only news here is that there was already a bar discipline proceeding pending before the bar with cause number 07-456-2 (which implies to me that it started in 2007) , that, through his lawyer Cynthia Stewart, Peters is irrevocably surrendering his license and not fighting whatever the matter was seeking to discipline him, and that this was filed yesterday.

Here‘s the petition.

Update:

Alan Lange of YallPolitics notes that the bar’s petition notes that the document in which Ed Peters surrendered his license was signed on Dec. 22nd and delivered to the bar on December 29th.  The bar’s petition was filed January 5th.  Not sure the delays (with virtually everything shut down on both January 1st and 2nd, and not a heckuva lot of work done on the Dec. 31st) mean anything.

…and has no chance of ever getting it back?

I think that what the word “irrevocable” means here.

NMC, trying to fix it, I screwed up the link worse. Sorry, but can you redo it?

    Fixed now.

As much work as Cynthia Stewart has done in association with Ed Peters, I am surprised that she has continued to represent him. With all that prior association I’d be getting as far away from him as possible, though it may be toolate for her to do that at this point.
