Lord have mercy, I just read somewhere that Liv Ullman turns 70 today — how is that possible?
In less appalling news, ducky found a nifty bloggy toy, a site that evaluates what personality type the author of any given blog exhibits. Typealyzer.com says folo’s and Phunk&Wagnalls’ authors are Thinkers; YallPolitics’ is a Duty Fulfiller; Cottonmouth’s, MadeinMississippi’s, and TheThornPapers’ are Doers; the Slabbers are Mechanics; and Miz Gloria — well, Miz Gloria is of course a Performer.
But Typealyzer makes very quick judgments, I must say.
Well, that’s interesting…
ceece, P&W is on hiatus? Waaaah.
Yep. We don’t have the time needed to post like we used to.
I certainly plan on returning to a regularly scheduled program – but having a two week old post left up as the last post gets on my nerves, so we decided to cap it off for now.
Wow, all our replies are framed now! I guess next year they’ll get matted too?
With any luck . . .
And looky here, Phantom, now we can reply to each other directly too.
Any chance of a wee bit larger print for us geriatrics?
Dammit boy, I’m gonna need a magnifying glass to read this new small type, or
go get some really strong bi-focals. LOL.
This is pretty kewl, lotus. But I’m gonna have to get used to it. You know how us old folks don’t take too much to change.
I’ve got a great idea for both Toyota and Cooper Tire. During this delay in production, Toyota needs to work out a deal with Cooper Tire for Cooper to provide at least some of the Tires needed for the future Prius production —- enough to warrant Cooper Tire keeping the Tupelo, MS plant. I know Toyota already has its own supplier deal for tires, but a modification to these plans, under the circumstances, could really help the Tupelo/NE MS region in the future. And that combination —great gas mileage Toyota car plus locally made Cooper Tires —- would guarantee very strong sales in MS. I will go ahead and put in my order for one right now.
And one thing I don’t quite understand. With respect to Toyota’s decision to indefinitely delay production until the market improves, its representatives stated, in words to the following effect, that previously it was selling cars at above sticker price due to demand that exceeeded supply, but now it was only selling the cars at the sticker price. And in response, I ask, what is wrong with that? Isn’t the sticker price a price that is profitable —the recommended selling price set by the company itself? These cars are still hard to get right now. And these low gasoline prices are NOT going to last. Toyota needs to get moving. We need these cars NOW, not 3 years from now. Come on Toyota. There is nothing to fear, but fear itself. I am ready to laugh as I drive by the gas pumps, and flip off OPEC and all those other oil despots (eg Chavez) who had been recently preening and showing off like peacocks.
Goldern it, these computers! When I first saw this new hairdo, the comment print was tee-niney for me too, so I whined to the techie and he goosed it up a few notches. But now y’all see it tiny? Faw.
Well, here’s what you do: on a PC, mash the Control button and the + key; on a Mac, it’s Command/+. That’ll enlarge the print as much as you like. To make it smaller, same deal only with the – key.
Did that help? Nod your heads.
AFOTL @ 9: Sounds like a good idea, but Cooper has, historically, declined opportunities to provide OEM tires. I have no idea why that’s Cooper’s policy, but I guess it makes good sense to someone somewhere. My experience has been that OEM tires usually are comparatively “cheap” tires. This was certainly true of the Goodyear “Integrity” tires on the last two Toyotas I bought. I put a set of Coopers on Sweetie Pie’s Highlander Hybrid last week … OEM Goodyears barely made it to 28,000 miles. Go figger ….
You guys, how much smaller than the post print is the comment print you’re seeing, as a percentage?
Our techie’s screen shows them the same size, but my comment print looks about 90% of the post size.
Lotus@10: Control + helped a lot. With Control ++ I can take my specs off. Thanks for edikaten me.
The post print is about a size 12 font and the replies are maybe a 7 point font but most likely a 6 point.
Okay, we’re on it, BlackBear. Thanks for the info.
What browser, version and OS are you using?
Thanks.
They look to be the same size on my iPhone, but I’ll check it on the Mac later.
All up in my dance space…should I dim the lights?
I know, it’s funky, isn’t it? GG’s right about change and us geriatrics.
One more for AFOTL @ 9: This announcement appeared on the Tupelo tv station’s website this morning:
“Cooper Tire has told its employees the company’s plant in Tupelo will remain open.
“However, the plant in Albany, Georgia, will close its doors for good.”
Merry Christmas, Albany.
Pressing “control” and “+” ain’t working for me.
3dS, what browser, version, and OS are you on?
Tiny type could be brain-therepeutic like the crossword puzzle.
Windows. Big office machine. Says: Hanns-G JC199D on front.
Also lose submit button if type more than 1 line. Blessing?
Gah, not from where I sit, 3dS.
Ben, thanks for the info and great news. I had attended a church group Christmas party this past Sunday night hosted by an employee of Cooper Tire. He and his wife were very worried about their future due to the uncertainty with Cooper Tire. I know several other folks employed by Cooper Tire as well. This will make their Christmas a lot more merry.
Also, that is very interesting about their policy on OEM tires. I did not know that. But, if such a deal meant watering down your product, I would understand it. Still, the idea of such a match makes a lot of sense, at least in theory. Cooper is already there, makes good quality tires, and likely could use the additional business. Toyota could really make a good public relations statement with such a deal to use Cooper Tires — an all-MS made product.
I did the analysis thingy on my Blogg section of my web site and was told I was A Duty Fulfiller:
“The responsible and hardworking type. They are especially attuned to the details of life and are careful about getting the facts right. Conservative by nature they are often reluctant to take any risks whatsoever.
The Duty Fulfillers are happy to be let alone and to be able to work in their own pace. They know what they have to do and how to do it.”
Not surprising since I labor over comments to make sure execrable typing and tangential though do not project what might be considered schizoaffective thought patterns eg I am not a crazy agitated schizophrenic, I am just eccentric.
NL
We know, and we other eccentrics just wuvs you for it, NatLov.
What am I to conclude from this site thinking you and YallPolitics are the same type?
Hey 3dS, you still around? Check your email, bro, Folo Support is on the line, trying to help you out here. He also says to me,
The 5th Circuit says James Ford Seale stays put at least until his appeal is heard on May 18.
What is the scoop on Obama’s appointment of the Education chief? I know we had a big discussion here a while back about a couple of prospects for the post from MS, which some thought poor choices due to the MS way (I suppose backward way) of doing things. So, is the Chicago way of Arne Duncan better than the MS way? Hopefully, we won’t be applying organized crime techniques to education —the Chicago way — eg. teacher fails to perform? Put em on Ice. LOL.
Don’t know much about Arne Duncan yet (except that he’s apparently another example of right-down-the-centerline Obamism), afotl, but I was just sampling Time’s Person of the Year package, thereby elevating my mood a right smart.
Omigosh … that means Catherine Deneuve is 65. The End of the World is imminent.
Good lord. One thing this software update showed me was 109 comments I couldn’t previously see in the spam bin. The majority belonged there, but a whole other crowd of ‘em were by innocent commenters (BlackBear seemed especially vulnerable, but I also found folks like Ben Cole, GlitterGirl, and Researcher, for pity’s sakes!). They went back to September or so, but now they’re freed.
Sorry ’bout that, keeds. If you said something really good that disappeared, it’s been found and fished out at longest last.
You may call me any number of things, but “innocent” ain’t one of ‘em.
Well then, “not YET banned.” Howzat?
how are we supposed to find these pearls of wisdom that have dropped into the comment bin?
Alas, about the only way you will is by happening to revisit those threads for whatever reason might occur to you.
which threads.
we got lotsa threads.
I don’t knowwwwwwww (sob). No reasonable way to announce that. I just went through six pages of comments going “Approve” “Delete” “Delete” “Delete” “Approve” . . .
You are in fact innocent, Ben. The question is of what, exactly.
Whatever.. I am just good for working and getting the job done, the facts right and responsible. Would you want your physician any other way Smarty Pants??
NL
Innocent till PROVEN guilty.

Apparently my law firm site is “ESTP – The Doer” which is somewhat different from my personality which is ESt/fJ according to the Kiersey Sorter. However it was built by by my ESFP spouse, so mebee that ’splains it?
The “Reply” section (once “Comments”) has teeny tiny print.
Does anyone else use the Google Chrome Browser?
I do, DLM.
Other than the new reply features, I don’t see anything too different in Chrome, do you?
Nope-looks pretty much the same but I do like knowing about the control +/_ feature to increase or diminish the type size.
I was far more dubious about the type-casting of Yall than you, NL.
Dear Lotus, what has happened to the print type on the website?
Pretty hard to read. We’ll make it, tho!
Put those readers on, folks.
Since it is an open thread, does anyone bank on the possibility out-going Pres. Bush will pardon Bernie Ebbers?
Mississippi Gal:
1) it’s a software upgrade. trying pressing ctrl/+ on your computer
2) I’d say it’s not happening about Ebbers.
Nuffn about this gotta get a look at your photo collection.
Second I hope you enjoyed the Video

That is too cool for words. Sorry you couldn’t make the gathering at Jubilee, hope you can make the next one.
