Avalanche warning

November 6th, 2008 @ 6:25 am - by lotus · 3 Comments

Apparently the anti-Paliniana that Camp McCain’s served in recent weeks was mere hors d’oeuvres — expect the main platters shortly. And while Newsweek‘s Special Election Project is detail-rich, Fox News shan’t be outdone. Check out this exchange (h/t duckweedpond) between Shep Smith and their McCain-campaign reporter, with such tattle as that Palin hadn’t known that Africa is a continent:

Notwithstanding a friend of the law’s daydream that Palin attracted as many votes as she repelled, Shep ain’t having the reporter’s suggestion that McCain doomed himself on September 15 when Lehman filed for bankruptcy as he pronounced the economy’s fundamentals “strong.” Nope, dit Shep, a Fox News team’s review of the polls found that the stampede to Obama actually began four days earlier, on September 11 — the day after CBS released the first excerpts of the Palin-Couric interview.

In any case, the reporter warns that “an avalanche” of similar tales of Palin’s vacancy is on the way (let’s hide and watch it bury McCain’s reputation just as deep as hers). While this could provide another day or two’s amusement, I’ll presume to speak for most of us: y’all dogs bark all you want, the caravan moves on . . .

I hope the only “reaching out” President-Elect Obama does is to Robert Gates to stick around a little while as Secretary of Defense. Condi needs to go to Crawford and help W with his memoirs.
