I count it entire justice that he’ll soon be about as employable in politics as Alberto Gonzales in law.

    As I watch more and more of the McCain surrogates come on the teevee and try to explain away McCain’s gaffes, flipflopping and just how his claim that he can be a reformer is feasible in any sense of the word; I am struck by how humiliating their job might be. As a night owl child, I used to sneak into the living room after everyone else was asleep, turn on the tv and watch whatever was on. My only options in those days were preachers and hucksters-sometimes hard to tell the difference- you know the ones selling pre-salad shooter-slice and dicekitchen gadgets. Well, times were tough and I instinctively knew these hucksters were just trying to make a living. We were a big family-5 kids- but I was so thankful that my dad didn’t have to resort to that to put food on our table.
