The Legal Schnauzer blog has blogged (with some national attention) about the Siegelman case, Alice Martin (the US Attorney in N.D. Ala), and the Paul Minor case.
Roger Shuler, the author of the Legal Schnauzer blog, who it turns out is an employee in publications at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, has been fired for blogging about Siegelman. His employer alleges he was using the computers at work for research for his blog. The IT director verified that he had never written on his blog at work. Shuler points out that writing in public-relations there required online research, and is convinced that he was fired in part due to the way his blogging has angered local Republicans. It’s been written about on Raw Story and by Scott Horton at Harpers.
I hope he’s in touch with the folks at the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

We did it again, NMC! As soon as an impending thunderstorm passes, I’ll delete my post, bringing a bit of it as a comment here. But right now I gotta shut this rig down fast, so seeya.
[As promised:] More shocked than surprised by this development, I wish Roger and family great strength and the comfort of strangers’ support as they fight back. Best to you, and may you prevail as soon as possible, Roger!
