I want to reaffirm certain things about this space we share.
Writing blog posts and comments is like no other writing situation: there you are, alone with the computer, writing in light itself, for yourself — but the moment you click Submit, what you’ve written becomes universal in both time and space. Though folo’s Edit function allows revision for one hour after a comment is submitted, on most blogs, card laid is card played, and what you say cannot be called back. People sometimes forget that, to their own detriment and that of the website.
folo lost an extremely valuable contributor today (I didn’t realize that clicking the button to end User/Editor access would disappear all that person’s comments too, but it does). Though I regret that more than I can say, the comments that disappeared when I hit that button included a sort of discourse I just can’t have on this blog.
I re-pledge to all foloers my commitment to safe and sane conversation, where your ideas may run the gauntlet but you yourself will not.
Again, for what happened here this weekend, culminating this afternoon, I apologize to all concerned.

And I agree with the ideas in this post. It is a shame that the Clarion-Ledger will seemingly not filter any of the comments sections of its articles online. Y’all do a fine job around here.

lotus, I know you are fair. I was banned once for multilple names, Hatfield / Beanland. You accepted my explanation, restored my account & made a friend in the process. lotus its not always easy to police KAOS. But you do a GREAT job.
