Gad, you’re right, Gardenia. Scowlin’ Bennie is my congressman. My little sliver of a street in the Belhaven neighborhood got gerrymandered into the Second District last go-around, so I’m in there with all the Delta folks.

So, you think the US Chamber’ll stay out of that race? Cuz you know po’ ole Gill ain’t gettin’ a dime. Jess Dickinson had also handled a few plaintiff’s cases in his day, if I recall and we know the Chamber supported him. I said, give it some time…they certainly aren’t supporting a democrat for US congress, was my point. Was wrong to include “tort-reformers” in this particular instance…and stand corrected.

I agree. Charlie Ross just seems so disagreeable all the time – never smiles, always dour, just doesn’t seem likable.

Good Lord, save us from ‘The Clarion Ledger’ !!

When the Clarion Ledger editors have the gall to write “Hinds Countians should hope that the charges are found baseless and [suspended Judge Bobby] DeLaughter is quickly returned to the bench”, they overlook one salient and vital point:
It’s not a matter of speed that justice warrants in any such matter as a judge being charged with corruption, but justice seeks the CORRECT result — not a speedy one.

If the man turns out to be guilty, we don’t need a criminal sitting on that side of the bench. It’s bad enough having so many standing in front of the bench – much less seated on the bench.

What a travesty of a newspaper the Clarion Ledger is. Maybe such comments would be expected in some biased weekly ‘rag’ but not in a Gannett-connected daily in the State’s Capitol City ! Or then again … maybe that’s what is to be expected from Gannett and its ilk.

Help !!!
