If some of y’all pay more attention to LegalNewsLine.com than I do (and practically anyone following Scruggsiana probably does), maybe you can tell me whether you’re used to seeing the byline “Victoria Johnson Hoggatt” there. It’s new to me, but after what happened the other day, “John O’Brien” back as usual might have been a bigger surprise. Maybe O’Brien’s just otherwise-engaged or on vacation or something, but if he’s free to go to go to work for a real news operation now, his momma may be prouder of him.
Anyhow, Due process of law butts heads with free press in Scruggs case supports the idea that there’s a Theme of the Day developing in Scruggs coverage (in default of any real news). Patsy Brumfield and I just did an email interview for the story she’s working on, on bloggy-interest in the Scruggs case. I’m looking forward to seeing what she makes of us kids in pajamas in our parents’ basements an’ all.
Victoria was at the hearings last week. We talked briefly. She’s an attorney is all I know. But did need help with some of the legaleaze deciphering. But who doesn’t? =/
Hi there, LydiaL. That’s interesting . . .
Any other skinny to be had today around Oxpatch?
Does anyone think that the headline in the LegalNewsLine piece is remotely supported by the text of the piece? A less screaming but more accurate headline would be: “First Amendment and Due Process work out accommodation in their respective spheres.” Not as exciting but certainly more accurate.
No need to press accuracy on LNL, NMC. They’re immune to such as that.
You did an email interview? Good golly Miss Molly that is going to piss off Jackson’s SPQ Journalista.
Are you talking about Donna the Pious, Bud Fox?
What Dragoman said, Bud. Hah?
Drago I wouldn’t want to violate the embargo. I will say that, if lotus lived round these parts she’d get a Fondren waterboarding for that admission. You.simply.don’t.take.the.sacraments.if.you.haven’t.gone.to.confession.
Bud.darling.Bud.WTF.are.you.tawkin.about? Take.pity.on.an.alien.here.wouldja? What.is.a.Fondren.waterboarding.and.why.am.I.alleged.to.deserve.one?
With regard to the LNL (and Keker’s) take on the unfairness of the public’s reaction to the allegations against Scruggs, all I have to say is “bless his heart”. I’m guessing Mr. Scruggs is no longer a big fan of “magic jurisdictions”.
