Siegelman-story update

February 25th, 2008 @ 7:22 pm - by lotus · 1 Comment

The publicity thickens:

As Researcher noted, as I type, WHNT — the Bass-family-controlled north-Alabama CBS affiliate that somehow managed to mislay last night’s 60 Minutes story on Gov. Don Siegelman, Karl Rove, the Gonzales Justice Department, Leura-&-Bill-Canary-and-Alice-Martin, and Judge Mark Fuller — that WHNT is now having to devote 13:38 minutes of its 6 o’clock news to re-running the entire report. D’oh, that tactic just didn’t work out so well, now did it, chappies?

Moreover, I’ve just heard that, on MSNBC tonight following Keith Olbermann’s show, Dan Abrams will be interviewing Dana Jill Simpson, the Republican attorney/campaign operative who blew the whistle on the Rove-Canary-Fuller machinations that put Don Siegelman in prison. This interview will be available online by tomorrow if you miss it tonight — and youbetcha I’ll be linking to it.

Don’t forget reporter Eddie Curran’s role in the Siegelman prosecution (he wrote a series of articles in the Mobile Register). As you probably know, he’s writing a book about Siegelman and wrote an article last week about the case.

Quin Hillyer was attacking Jill Simpson’s credibility last week. This case has as many strange characters as Scruggsville. I got interested in this case awhile back, and I like to read as much as possible, from as many sources as I can, to try to figure out the truth amonst the various biases. The more I read about it, the more sympathetic to Siegelman I became. However, it’s easy to get distracted from the truth by some of Jill Simpson’s outlandish allegations. IMHO, she ain’t helping Siegelman’s cause. I hate that I missed Abrams’s interview of her.
