Peters’ role in Eaton v. Frisby under the microscope

Thanks to Jane, irate, and an anonymous reader for bringing to attention Jimmie Gates’s

Former Hinds DA’s role in lawsuit to be probed

Hinds County Senior Circuit Judge Swan Yerger ruled today that he or someone appointed by him would investigate the role of former longtime District Attorney Ed Peters in a trade secrets lawsuit.

A special master was removed in the case last year by Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter, who had been presiding over the case until he removed himself earlier this year. …

It’s the Eaton v. Frisby case, not only much discussed here previously, but, according to Gates, “one of at least three lawsuits the FBI is now examining involving DeLaughter and Peters as part of its continuing investigation into Mississippi’s judicial bribery scandal.”

Judge Yerger heard motions today and “ruled that any action in the case would be stayed until Peters’ involvement in the case is determined,” Gates reports.

My God, how much more does handwriting does Bobby DeLaughter NEED on the wall of his de-robing room?

Where the sky is completely blotted out by deep, black smoke, the air smells like soot, and a roaring/crackling sound is heard, there must be fire.

Welcome to folo, PHD. Gittin’ a tidge sulphuric too.

  3. confounded says:

Uh does anyone think swan yerger has a MAJOR conflict of interest? Investigating mike allred who he is very close to. Investigating peters who worked in that courthouse for years and investigating his fellow judge bobby delaughter? Seems like judge yerger would recuse from even appointing someone to investigate. This won’t make bobby think he needs to hang up his robe. This will make him feel very secure, rightly or wrongly.

Tell us’uns without access to Westlaw the story of Allred v. Dockins, confounded (et al.), please sir(s) and/or ma’am(s).

  5. confounded says:

Judge Yerger did nothing wrong in that case; can’t say the same for allred though.

  6. Magnolia says:

Why is Yerger doing this? I believe we got to this dance of corruption by school chums, co-workers,relatives in high places and a thirst for power and money. Leave it be, the Feds are much better prepared to do this type of corruption investigation.

Let Yerger be Yerger. There is enough light shining on this one that he will need the wiles of Houdini himself to fool the bloggers with fancy foot work.

  8. lotus says:

Hmm. “Let Yerger be Yerger”? Is his footwork traditionally fancy, littl?

  9. confounded says:

I heard Wilson’s lawyers asked yerger to request of chief justice jim smith that a special judge be appointed in Wilson v scruggs to replace delaughter. That was in January. No one knows if yerger has done anything on that yet.

The web in Jackson certainly appears incestuous.

I doubt Yerger would do anything other than make damn sure all ducks are in a row.

Those who are interested in the Scruggs stuff might look at a couple of new posts.
