Patsy Brumfield reports in the Daily Journal:
OXFORD … Sentencing for former attorneys Joey Langston and Timothy Balducci will wait for what more they have to offer federal prosecutors.
Government motions asking to delay their sentencings were filed this week with the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Mississippi. Friday, the Langston motion was approved by Chief Judge Michael Mills. No action had been taken on the Balducci request by late Friday afternoon. …
Although their pre-sentence reports have been prepared, the government wants to be sure Langston and Balducci will be fully helpful to testify against their former colleague, Richard "Dickie " Scruggs of Oxford …
Patsy describes Balducci as “believed to be under federal protective custody in the region” and says Joey Langston “also is believed to be offering a grand jury information related to the case in which he pleaded guilty.” She ends by reminding her readers that, “Without a plea and cooperation, Balducci faced up to 75 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. For Langston, it was five years in prison at a $250,000 fine.”
So tune-up rill good, boyz.
There has been talk about Joey getting letters from people on his behalf so they can be presented to the court at his sentencing.
As reported by the NEMDJ’s “Good & Guilty,” published Feb. 3. Go to djournal.com and search under Joey Langston.
I presented over a hundred letters to Judge Mills during a sentencing hearing once. He went on and on about how he had read each one and how impressed he was. Then the defendant was promptly sent to the pen for the maximum. (It was a violent crime). He couldn’t care less about those letters. Joey is on his way down the river.

This is a very interesting article. How can one not know whether one has been influenced?

Or be aware that someone is attempting to influence you and ignore it, not call their hand on it, not report it, not place any reference in the record etc etc. I think interesting may be the understatement of the day……………..
So many opportunities to do SOMETHING, and then to apparently have an attack of conscience after two guilty pleas and the feds come a calling…….
Unbelievable.
