mississippi should be glad to be rid of trent lott. patsy points out in her article that lott always calls nominees; then his call to delaughter proves that he did actually did nominate delaughter just like delaughter asked.

that, bobby, is called asking for and receiving a bribe!!

all of bobby's defenses are broken down. bobby said he was never approached: he was. bobby said he didn't take a bribe: he did. bobby said he wasn't influenced: he was.

do the world the same favor trent lott did for the world -- step down!

There's a photo of Dickie coming out of the courthouse today on the Daily Journal website. He looks very worried and seems to have aged. I can't imagine why ....

Edited to add link: http://www.djournal.com/pages/story.asp?ID=266577&pub=1&div=News

NMC, was there any noticeable eye contact or other communication between Scruggs and crew and TB?

Had to be very tough for TB sitting there looking at those guys and thinking what he had lost and what he threw away. But I guess keeping your mind on those 50 plus years of hard time that your saving yourself from would make it much more doable.

What was it like watching someone work that makes $1000/hr...what was your impression of Keker's performance?

Update: Never mind, I see the color commentary above. You must have ESPN hardy har!

NMC....how was Balducci's behavior? Did he seem nervous? or confident in giving his testimony?

I had a feeling all along that Balducci was completely surprised by Lackey asking for money....and given his relationship to this old judge & mentor...he could not tell him "no" in light of the situation he, himself, had put the judge in. I wonder why he didn't sense danger. After all this was a judge everyone agrees, and Balducci knew personally, was of the highest integrity and honor asking for money in exchange for a favorable ruling. Just amazing.
