I notice some of you wondering why the hell there’s an ad for Ann Coulter on this site, of all places. (Last night, I ran into some rightwing outfit’s anti-Obama ad here too, with what similar pleasure you can imagine.)
Here’s the thing. I’m trying out Google ads as a way of supporting the work of providing folo. But I can’t directly control their content (some of which, um . . . bemuses . . . me). I’m looking at Google’s ways of filtering less-appropriate ads, but basically, how it works is this:
Their software scans every word on a blog-page and somehow electronically matches Google clients’ ads to not only the blog-content but even the location of the viewing computer. (Last night folo webmaster riddenword, a Texan, and I, a Floridian, discovered that we were being shown two different sets of ads on the same folo page. How ’bout that?)
Anyhow, the ads are here because I need an income either from blogging or some other work. Because I vastly prefer producing this blog to any other work I’ve ever done, I’m hoping that running these ads will somehow allow me to continue it.
And if that means Ann Coulter hangs out here awhile today, all I can say is: We’re a vast improvement over her usual companions. Meh.
This certainly explains the forthcoming d*ldo ads!

No, only the ones that would show up in your own personal browser.
Note this statement from lotus:

That’s Google. Customization pushed down to the user level.
How ’bout that, Bud. Gives me a headache.
But irate and EVERYBODY, please note this statement from lotus even more.
Boy this guy really doesn’t want to go to jail:
Former insurance agent Nowlin asks court to reconsider sentence

how about this part:
The motion also suggests the judge should feel sorry for Nowlin, since he "is not an educated nor an articulate person " and will probably never regain the success he experienced prior to his crime.
"He stands shamed and injured by his own deceit, greed and criminal acts. This shame, loss of his lawful gains and collapse of his legitimate business are separate punishments that Nowlin suffered and will continue to suffer, " the motion states.
Opps. Sorry about that!

Talk about something that also needs some sunshine…public entities are exempt from filing 5500′s which make public, information such as commissions paid on employe benefit plans.
All corporations that meet a certain # of employee criteria must file these. Why public entities are exempt is beyond me. The above may have never happened if they were required to file.
IAG, he must not of had enough of those “How great thou art” letters when he got to court….
Y’all would not BELIEVE the uptick in spam comments this site’s drawing today. Gah.
I think it’s wonderful that Ms. Coulter is supporting your work.
